The Wonder of Gold Exhibition
3D Fluid Simulation
Reel Pictures created 3D animated content for a large 12 metre x2 metre wrap-around screen – a key part of the new “Perth Mint Gold Exhibition.”
THE BRIEF WAS TO PERSONIFY THE WONDER OF GOLD IN MOTION.
We were supplied a script and rough storyboards by the client and had free reign in crafting together the abstract animated sequence. We created quite complex ‘liquid gold’ animations and used RealFlow fluid simulation software in every sequence of the animation. Many of the fluid simulations lasted on screen for a long time without a cut, requiring a lot of technical management of simulation data.
There are many different RealFlow techniques being used here including the SPH and Hybrido solvers, retime simulation tools, Magic, Dspline and Morph Daemons.
We used the Realwave system with a custom RealFlow graph for the large ‘molten Earth’ sequence. A large polygon plane was subdivided and remapped to a sphere surface to apply the RealWave effect across the entire planet earth.
